USEPA Waste Minimization Partner:
The United States Environmental Protection Agency
(USEPA) designated Crown as a Waste Minimization
Partner, one of only 27 in the country. Crown
reduced substantially the amount of hazardous
waste by eliminating the chromium from paint
formulations. Additional waste minimization occurred
because of the installation of the powder painting
operation. This equipment has reduced the generation
of waste paint sludge and air emissions.
Integrated
Communications:
Crown was recognized with the Beacon Award
from the American Center for Design and Fortune magazine,
recognizing the company's outstanding corporate
communications and design programs.
Other companies receiving similar recognition
included NIKE, Inc., Herman Miller, Inc., and
Starbucks Coffee Company.
Historical Preservation Award:
Crown was the recipient of the Preservation
Merit Award given by the Ohio Historic Preservation
Office and its advisory board. The recognition
came because of Crown's efforts at restoring
and
utilizing the downtown New Bremen community's
older commercial and residential buildings.
Pollution Prevention Award:
Crown received the Governor's Award for Outstanding
Achievement in Pollution Prevention from
then
Ohio Governor George Voinovich. One of only
eight award recipients, the company earned
the nomination
because of its achievements in pollution prevention,
its local leadership as a role model for
other
industrial generators, and its demonstration
of the feasibility of pollution prevention. |
