The Wave® Work Assist Vehicle from Crown sets safety standards at Yamaha Motor's European Distribution Centre in Amsterdam
Designing and producing leisure vehicles for close to half a century, Yamaha Motor strives for the customer to 'experience a delicate blend of technologies which creates a harmonious union between man and machine'.
The Yahama philosophy runs throughout the company, from the design to the production of vehicles with minimum energy consumption and the least possible impact on the environment. Safety is also of the upmost importance.
This is why at Yahama's European Distribution Centre in Amsterdam, all ladders had been removed for safety reasons. With conveyor belts and distribution stations approximately 3m in height, this created a problem. How to replace them?
The Yamaha Motor Group approached Crown and found not only a product to fulfil all their maintenance requirements, but also a partner who shared their important philosophical ideals.
The solution for Yamaha was to use the Crown Wave® Work Assist Vehicle.
The Wave requires just a press of a button to raise the operator to the desired height – it is even possible to travel with the platform raised. Repairs to the conveyors can be carried out with both hands free to work as the operator stands securely on a cushioned platform within an enclosed safety rail.
At the Amsterdam Distribution Centre, the safety and manoeuvrability of the Wave are highly valued. The vehicle also meets the company's environmental criteria as the maintenance-free battery only needs to be recharged from a standard socket after 10 to 12 hours' operation, i.e. pure travel time.
