Creating manufacturing processes that reduce pollution, conserve energy and natural resources, and are economically sound and safe might seem like a relatively new idea, but that's what Crown Equipment has been doing for decades.
Crown's unique, vertically integrated production structure, through which we make approximately 85 percent of the components used in our electric lift trucks, has enabled Crown to shrink the environmental footprint of our manufacturing operations without affecting truck quality and reliability. By producing the majority of our parts, Crown is able to increase production efficiency and reduce the environmental impact associated with overland transport. This fully ecologic™ system creates greater efficiency in the manufacturing of Crown lift trucks. It also gives Crown unusual control over quality, sustainability and responsiveness to customers, enabling the company to reduce outsourcing and production schedules.
From a powder-coat paint system that annually eliminates tons of liquid paint waste and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), to the achievement of zero landfill status at our New Knoxville, Ohio motor plant, Crown works constantly to identify production innovations that minimise waste, manage energy and maximise lifespan.
Crown's commitment to sustainable manufacturing is longstanding and includes ISO 14001 certification of our environmental management systems. We believe that sustainable manufacturing is a smart business practice that we will continue to draw upon in our future ecologic™ enterprises.
