In an age of job-hopping and rising employee turnover rates, Crown Equipment Corporation stands out as a place where employees enjoy the work they do and the people who work with them. Though research by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the average American has been with his or her current employer for just four years, the average Crown employee has worked for the company for more than 10 years.
What’s more, about 10 percent of Crown’s U.S. workforce – more than 500 employees – has been with the company for at least 25 years. In August, Crown recognized 44 employees for reaching this milestone.
More than half of those honored this year represent the second generation in their family to spend at least 25 years with Crown. While the company has a large number of second and third generation employees, 2008 is the first year an employee completing 25 years of service was part of the third generation in her family to do so.
Crown’s Vice President of Human Resources, Randy Niekamp, says the company’s dedicated and experienced workforce gives Crown an advantage over other forklift manufacturers.
“Our people really understand our products and the needs of our customers,” said Niekamp. “Their knowledge and experience are what allow us to customize solutions for individual customers and respond quickly to their unique needs. We’re lucky to have so many employees who share Crown’s commitment to excellence.”
