Crown's Reman Program Delivers Quality, Uptime for Customers

Reman program delivers qualityThroughout the country, Crown parts and service counters are displaying acolorful poster with the lively proclamation, “We Do More!”

The displays helped introduce the Crown Remanufactured Motors program, emphasizing the quality and value received by purchasing Crown ‘reNEWed’ motors.

“Crown motors are quality products that insure the customer reliability and uptime,” says Jim Gaskell, Director Aftermarket Support. “Crown makes that possible today by supplying the industry’s best motors -- either new or ‘reNEWed’.”

Gaskell adds Crown has the experience and know-how needed to produce motors. “Our motors were being rebuilt by the competition and many times the rebuild wasn’t being done properly or at the same quality Crown expects. With our knowledge of the motor business, we felt it was a natural step to become involved in this area,” he says.

Many customers needing a rebuilt Crown motor were turning to “motor shops” for the work. Motor repair quality and cost were concerns not just for Crown but for customers as well.

With the Crown program, more than half of the ‘reNEWed’ motors are equipped with new armatures. None of the rebuilt motors Crown purchased for evaluation purposes from leading motor rebuilders had new armatures. None of these motors passed Crown dynamometer testing, a performance requirement for all
Crown ‘reNEWed’ motors.

In 1990, Crown began manufacturing motors at their New Knoxville (Ohio) plant.
Today there are more than 300,000 Crown motors in the field.

Crown manufactures material handling equipment referred to as electric forklift, fork lift trucks, pallet trucks and more.
