Product Focus / Wave® Work Assist Vehicle Continues to Add Value

Crown Celebrates a Decade of Product Versatility

Wave® Work Assist VehicleTen years ago, Crown introduced the Wave® Work Assist Vehicle. Since its introduction, the product has broken new ground worldwide in meeting the needs of companies in an ever increasing number of industries.

The Wave, a revolutionary, mobile productivity tool, was originally developed as an alternative to using ladders for small parts picking, allowing one person to safely and efficiently accomplish what normally would take two people. Since its introduction, customers continue to find new, innovative uses for the Wave.

Today, thousands of companies utilize the Wave, from retail stores to religious organizations, with new applications being found daily. Customers report improved productivity, reduced labor costs — in some cases by half — and increased safety. For many users, there are also fewer errors and accidents using the Wave.

For instance, the Ferdinand, Ind., operation of MasterBrand Cabinets integrated the Wave into its DC fleet to create overall plant efficiencies and to allow people to move parts out of multi-level racking without using rolling ladders. Facilities Engineer Dean Daunhauer said, “Our operators found the Wave to be user friendly with several features that make the product stand out. The combination of height capabilities and its ability to navigate tight spaces attracted the maintenance team.”

“Use of the Wave has evolved tremendously over the past 10 years,” said Crown Product Manager Andy Smith. “The Wave continues to cross over into new industries throughout the world, and our customers continue to find new uses for our product.”

In addition to using the Wave for parts picking, other unique applications include ship welding, retrieval of historical artifacts and hanging the world famous Christmas light display at the Mormon Tabernacle.

The Wave will allow a typical operator to safely reach up to 17 feet. The Wave is capable of maneuvering in compact work aisles as narrow as 36 inches and supports up to 200 pounds on the load tray and up to 250 pounds on the load deck.
