Accessories and Modifications / Fall Protection

Unless other fall protection options are selected on the order, all Crown Stockpickers ship with a medium size safety belt and an 8’ lanyard (see photo) to tether the operator to the lift truck.

Other sizes of belts, full body harnesses and many other lanyard options are available.

Safety belts are handy, easy to put on and very easy to adjust between moderately different sized operators making it easy for the operator to always wear fall protection.

Full body harnesses spread the forces associated with fall arrest over a greater area of the body in the event of a fall, but they take considerably longer to put on than a belt, and are more “personalized” due to size adjustments.

Crown recommends the user carefully consider both options with the end goal in mind that their operators always wear fall protection when using man-up order picking equipment.

Crown’s safety lanyard is a maximum 8 feet long to comply with standards. It provides sufficient operating room for placing merchandise on an attached pallet or platform but incorporates a small amount of freefall before fall arrest occurs.

Shock-absorbing lanyards are also 8 feet long but incorporate an elastic portion that reduces arrest forces.

Retractable lanyards work like an automotive seat belt. They allow for normal movement out to 8 feet, but lock quickly in the event of a fall.
