Modern Aboriginal Art Museum to Open in New Bremen
NEW BREMEN, Ohio (March 18, 2026) – Crown Equipment, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, today announced that they have begun construction of a new museum and cultural center in New Bremen. Set to open in late 2026, the Modern Aboriginal Art Museum will feature one of the largest collections of contemporary Aboriginal art in North America.
As the primary exhibit in the museum, the Aboriginal art collection will feature more than 100 contemporary paintings and sculptures, each telling a unique story and offering visitors the chance to experience contemporary expressions of one of the world’s oldest artistic traditions.
With more than 60 years of doing business in Australia, the museum is an extension of Crown’s global footprint in the material handling industry. The project also reflects the Company’s ongoing commitment to supporting cultural education and community enrichment in the region.
“The new center will be more than a museum,” said Jim Dicke II, chairman and chief executive officer, Crown Equipment. “It will be a place where visitors can learn more about global cultures and the role art has played in helping to shape our lives.”
Modern Aboriginal art emerged in the early 1970s as a revival of visual storytelling practices from Australia's First Peoples by contemporary indigenous artists of Australia. The movement is characterized by the translation of ancestral wisdom, spiritual beliefs, cultural narratives and traditional motifs into contemporary frameworks, forms, and media.
The 23,700-square-foot, single story facility will house both permanent and rotating exhibition space as well as a gift shop. The museum is located at 1 Museum Way in New Bremen. Hours of operations for the new museum will be released closer to the opening of the facility.
